a little rodeo action

3 against 1, Ian held them off for quite a while

we think cayson deserves a chicken of his own, he was so interested in them and we felt bad that we didn't take them to the bbq with us for him to play with.

This summer has been full of fun memories and by far one of my favorites is going to be the Enterprise Rodeo and Pioneer Day celebration. Wesley is all in favor of moving there, he may talk the rest of us into it one day. We went down Thursday night. Friday we played at a St. George water park (I'd never find it again), ate custard at Nielsen's (I LOVE custard, and even sneaked a little of Lydia's when she wasn't looking), and went to the rodeo with a great group of people (you know who you are ;). At the rodeo Ian & Fiona participated in the chicken catching race. Ian, who has been practicing for this moment since we got our own chickens, caught a big grey & white hen within the first 30 seconds. He sat quietly holding his chicken, now named rain cloud, for the rest of the rodeo. While there, one of Austin's former students asked if we wanted his chicken, why not? And that's how we ended up coming home with 2 new chickens, a hen and a rooster now named Hermes (we're into giving greek god names to our roosters our other rooster is Zeus). After the chicken race Austin & Ben gave us some great entertainment, such good sports, by participating in the donkey race. I couldn't stop laughing while I tried to shoot pics, it was great! Saturday we went to the parade, and it was like Halloween. Honestly, the kids came away with 3 bags of candy (grocery bags!) They had a great time. When the parade was over we headed to Santa Clara to visit Ashley, Uncle Gordon & Aunt Edith. The kids were able to play in a little pool and there was the cutest little playroom with 'Alice in Wonderland' doors (that's what the kids called the small little doors that led to little childsize nooks). The food was fantastic, Wes said it was his favorite pizza now, too bad they don't deliver to Salem. But it hit 113*F and that is just too hot!! We had such a fun time visiting Ben&Jodi, Ashley, Edith&Gordon. All such good people and really made our time there wonderful. Thanks to you all!

the object of the race is to get to the other end of the arena on your donkey and pick up the watermelon, then ride the donkey back. this video is at the end of the race after both of them had fallen off and kissed the dirt numerous times (the pics were really blurry). Good job guys!!

Bear Lake adventures!

this is a big post with LOTS of pictures. i always take like 200 at Bear Lake (this year i think i hit 234), it is so much fun.
we spent most of our time at the beach and the pool. this year the water was a lot higher and it created a little wading pool between two strips of sand. by late morning the water had heated up like a hottub. it was awesome and the kids loved it. it was really nice for the little ones (aka lydia the fearless) making it easier to keep an eye on them.
the pool had a new water slide, just a small one, but it was a great addition. katie dared me to go down it so i did. it wobbled and moved as i went down, i felt humungous! it was definitely made just for kids.
saturday and sunday austin stayed with us, too. we had a lot of fun eating dinner and playing with all the davis cousins, lots of good food. the ultimate frisbee game, softball game and tossing games were great fun, too.
this is definitely one of our favorite vacations of the year. enjoy the pics.

Motherhood: An Eternal Partnership with God

Motherhood: An Eternal Partnership with God
How can you not feel better about yourself, when you think of how much the Lord trusts and loves you. To all my sisters out there, I know that as mothers we are doing an important work and I am so grateful to be a part of it.
