puppies and a birthday!!

this is the look of a boy who just got a new puppy. Saturday we found 2 lab puppies that seemed to have been abandoned in our area (this happens frequently where we live). The children and zero (our healer/shepherd mix) absolutely fell in love with them, especially the one we have now dubbed 'black racer'. I just call him racer. The yellow one Ian called yellow-ee and we were planning on giving him to grandma, but he got out and has not returned.
I always told myself that I was done with puppies. They are like 5 hyper children in one. This one likes to tease (he already fits right in) and loves to grab whatever is in our hands and run off with it. This includes Lydia's dangling stocking clad toes; fortunately, he's only been able to pull off the socks and not any toes. But when I saw this look (the pic above) of true happiness and excitement I just couldn't say no and I talked Austin into letting us have another dog. Here's some more puppy-lovin' pics




This past Sunday was Fiona's 2nd birthday. We had a lot of fun with a little family party. She is such a cutie and I was so excited she picked a 'bug' cake. She's my girl.

Nadene gave me this idea and they turned out so adorable! I've already made one for lydia and one for a friend. i'm working on more for fiona and i want one for me, too.
i asked her to smile and this is the look i got :)

these are the monsters that i made for the boys. it was fun to create them. as i was thinking about it, realized that the monsters also kind of match their personalities as well. ian's little devil with the mischievous grin is just the right buddy for our little tease.


and the cyclops focuses in precisely with his one eye. last night wesley heard the word 'easter' and that is now his whole focus. "mom, when's easter? mom, what is the easter bunny going to bring me? mom, easter eggs are filled with candy. mom, when's easter?......"

at grandma davis' sunday we had a good time watching the little ones take on brady. he was so good with them and they were having so much fun as you can tell from the pics. thanks brady for being a good sport.

catching up

well, as you might have noticed from the dates on the previous 2 posts. i'm blogging quite a bit tonight (waiting for lydia to fall asleep. see afore mentioned previous blogs). so i thought i'd catch up on some pics that i've been meaning to post.
katie made the kids some fun things for christmas and i was very impressed by her handy work. the kids love them and i've been meaning to get these pics on here for awhile


i've been wanting to make dolls for fiona and lydia for a while and finally got to it. i think they turned out pretty cute. fiona LOVES hers and insists that lydia loves hers just as much. she's always bringing in lydia's and setting it on lydia's stomach. i've also made little monsters for the boys. i just haven't gotten pics of them yet. it's been really fun creating these little treasures for the children. and even funner when they love them as much as i do.


a very good friend of mine gave me these dresses for the girls (she said sisters should have matching dresses:) i love it) and i've been meaning to get pics of them together forever. it finally happened. they didn't turn out the greates, fiona was not in a posing mood. but i got some fun one's out of it anyways.

fiona can definitely hold her own against her brothers. a few months ago when she got angry at ian she grabbed him and head-butted him like in the movies. she also likes to take on wesley and show him her unbeatable wrestling moves.

yeah, that's ian in the background egging her on. but i guess austin and i aren't much better for sitting there and filming it while we laughed our fool heads off.
